Between work being extremely busy and taking a vacation after our project was due, I have been a bit MIA from both blogging and being active on Instagram, so without further ado here is my new favorite fashion obsession: the perfect velvet bodysuit!
This piece is so sophisticated, yet fun, has tons of details, yet looks clean-lined and classy! So, what are some of the features of the Beaded Shoulder Surplice Velvet Bodysuit that I adore?
- The shoulder details – the beaded necklaces-like detail adds so much visual interest to the upper half of the suit. It is set on a black tulle patch which to me screamed inspiration for pairing the suit with a black pencil skirt, a tulle a line one or a pair of simple black cigarette pants. The metallic color of the beads is not an exact silver or bronze, which allows for the selection of any jewel without clash with the shoulder detail.
- The deep V – this neckline brings the eye down to balance out the shoulder detail and draw attention to the rest of your outfit.
- The color – the deep burgundy color is so rich and adds to the refined character of the bodysuit. This piece is also available in black and goldish khaki (which is absolutely gorgeous and on my wish-list)!
- The soft material – this velvet piece is so soft and cozy against the skin, I can sleep in it!
- The comfy fit (SIZE UP!) – OK, so I initially ordered a size Small, since it is my typical in tops, but could barely put my arms trough the sleeves and could not button the suit for the life of me…. Soooo, the next time I ordered I went with LARGE and I love how it fits–it is no pulling anywhere and it is not wide either–just the perfect size for me! I would highly recommend jumping up at least one size, especially if your torso is on the longer side.
Drop me a line and let me know if you love wearing bodysuits for spring. I now have a few of those and cannot wait to show them off this season! Enjoy the rest of your week, lovelies!
Fashion tends to repeat itself, doesn’t it?! 30-40 years pass and we see the same trends show up. My auntie used to tell me this and I could not fathom it possible, but now I have lived enough and see that she was right indeed!! This week’s look is inspired by the high-waisted pants and in particular a plaid tapered version that caught my eye. It is funny to look back in time and remember laughing at mom’s jeans, thinking I would never wear such pants… Lo and behold, I sure am into those now–looking at my first pair of ripped mom jeans now and showing you this look whose main act is a pair of pants that sit right at my belly button!!
I saw the Plaid Tapered Pants With Strap and immediately thought: red booties, red top and a baker boy hat–chic, edgy and current with a twist of vintage! But these pants are so versatile that I decided to try two different looks, which can be achieved with a slight modification of accessories and a top to drive the ship either into a sophisticated or hip direction.
The sophisticated – for this look, I chose to pair the pants with the Elastic Trumpet Cuff Bow Tied Blouse. The femininity and elegance of this top compliments the preppy feel of the pants to create an urbane outfit! The burgundy color of the top is very suitable and pops even against the strong multi-color plaid pattern–almost like PB and J–made for one another! Add some red booties, red-framed glasses, your favorite red lip color and this look can easily take you from a day to work to happy hour with your colleagues!

The hip – bring on the “old school cool!” This pairing is exactly what emerged in my head as soon as I say the pants. “I had a vision!” To bring it to life I kept the pants and added the Contrast Half Zip Bow Tied Bodysuit in Wine Red and my favorite baker boy hat. This bodysuit is among the most comfortable ones I own. The fabric is a cotton-poly blend–super soft against your skin–always a plus in my books! I also love the vintage feel the bow tied collar, the white contrasting trim and half-zipper front detail bring. Doesn’t is all come together to bring a modish look?!

❤ Happy, happy Valentine’s day week! ❤ Whatever your relationship status may be, I hope cupid sits on your shoulder and you have a great time with the person/people you love! ❤
I decided to show you this look as it is not the traditional red dress, the lace beauty in pink or the sexy little black dress, but it spells elegant with an edge to me–perfect to make any girl feel confident or special for a Valentine’s or Galentine’s date. This outfit is very sentimental to me as it features a special item that has been in my family for three generations now. Can you guess which one it is?
The Half Buttoned Velvet Floral Bodysuit – where do I begin with this suit? The print is so unique and fresh. I love the flowers in dust pink and honey yellow with touches of Mediterranean blue and olive green. Those seem to pop, but in very gentle fashion, on the black velvet fabric. The wide sleeves with wide trim give this bodysuit a kimono feel and the v-neckline and small round-dome buttons on the front add to the dainty details that make this piece so charming and feminine. You can use code “LauraZF” on Zaful.com to receive 10% off your purchase!
The leather skirt – I have owned this skirt for at least a year now and absolutely adore styling it as it instantly adds edge an outfit. I love the zip detail on the pockets and the asymmetrical split at the front. The leather is soft and lined, making this skirt a pleasure to wear.
The booties – these have my name on it. I am a huge fan of pointy toes, kitten heels and soft colors–put these together and you have a winning bootie in my books. Those are super comfy which is a HUGE plus.
It’s the clutch – the sentimental piece, this clutch is very dear to my heart–it is the engagement present my grandpa made my grandma–how special is that. It is snakeskin and every detail is so eloquent and refined! “They don’t make them like this any more!” is a phrase fit for this situation! ❤
The sunglasses – every lady needs to looks trough these cute, round, pink shades. They are so charming and so girly–a great spring accessory! You can use code “LauraZF” on Zaful.com to receive 10% off your purchase!

Hope this week has been treating you well! It seems like summer has arrived in LA and I could not be happier that we are getting 80 degree temperatures–I am such a sucker for the SUN!
Of course, this weather requites spring attire and for this week’s posts (Monday’s is here) I have partnered with a contemporary boutique for women’s clothing, headquartered right here in Los Angeles–Gozon.com!
First meet the Serenity Velvet Midi Dress… She is a show-stopper that drew me in with that unique velvet texture in mauve color. Her silhouette is simple, yet commands attention every time you take a look! The ruffled sleeves add to the feminine charm of this piece without overpowering it. It has just the right dose of proper and sexy to make any woman feel beautiful! The Serenity Velvet Midi also comes in grey and looks just as gorgeous in it. I decided on the mauve as it caught my eye and sang a spring song in my ear! 🙂 If you are just as in love with this dress as I am you can use code “MARIETA15” to receive 15% off your purchase from Gozon boutique!

Second, for all of you boho souls out there, the Floral and Lace Bell Sleeve Top is pure spring perfection! There are so many details to entertain the eye here, the off -the-shoulder cut, the oversized bell sleeves, beautifully combining delicate crochet, lace and floral embroidery detailing. This top feels so breezy and will keep you cool on a warm day, but would also work with a cami underneath if you need an additional layer. To complete the free-spirit look of the boho top I combined it with wide legged jeans, but it also works perfectly with my skinny ones, and I can imagine it pairing up beautifully with a peasant skirt or ripped denim shorts. Check it out, it also comes in black.

Hi there, lovelies!
Seems like two colors are on the rise for Fall 2017. Can you guess the front runners? The title gave one up, so “YES” power red is one and chocolate brown the other. Both would be center stage the coming season. Designers like Max Mara, Givenchy, Armany, and Victoria Beckam, just to name a few, sent head-to-toe looks in various hues of red, down the runway.
To follow suit I searched for my red perfection and I find it in a jumpsuit! This piece by The Mint Julep Boutique grabber my eye with it’s daring color and elegant cut. The cold shoulder design, and the fact that you cannot tell whether this is a jumpsuit or a two-piece ensemble introduce mystery to this structured and chic fall favorite. The wide-leg “trousers” add to the sophistication of this piece and the 31-inch inseam allows a tall girl to enjoy a pair of heels without looking like she is going on a fisherman’s trip.
I wore this look to a blogger babes dinner in West Hollywood and was very comfortable in it the whole night–it took me from dinner to drinks to dancing. For the evening I paired the jumpsuit with Suede Michael Kors heels and the Rebecca Minkoff Black on Black ‘Mini MAC’ Convertible Crossbody Bag.
Have you checked out shopthemint.com? They have the cutest Fall items in their new arrivals section. I already have my eye on a few sweaters… Keep in mind that if you sign up for Mint Julep’s e-mails, you will receive $10 on your first order–what a great deal!

We still have till September 22nd to enjoy summer and I found the perfect dress to celebrate these last few days of my favorite season in. And “YES!” those who have followed me a while probably guessed right–it is WHITE and EYELET, cause you know I have a crush on anything white or creme, that is lace, crochet or eyelet!
This Snow White by Metisu can do it all. She can be your sporty girl partner when paired with a pair of sneakers, a leather duffel bag, and some aviatiors, or your classy evening attire when worn with heels and a clutch.
Why did I set on this dress as my final summer wardrobe addition for this season?
- It is made of cotton, so it provides a natural and comfortable feel and a look that could be either casual or dressy.
- Midi dresses can be worn on so many occasions.
- The eyelet pattern is unique.
- The solid patches around and on the side of your waist are very strategically placed to give your figure a nice shape.
I added a bit of sparkle to the look with there gorgeous Henley drop stud earrings by Blush & Bar.

Have you ever found a boutique that you fell in love with right away? I just did!! LUXE Boutique is IT–so excited to visit their page and discover tons of cute pieces and new items fly in so very frequently that I consistently want something more… and more…
So what did I finally set my eyes on?
The Bad to the Bow Top – Don’t you just love the name!?! So original and clever–puts a smile on my face, cause when I wear it I do feel bad to the bow! The coral color is very fresh–perfect for summer, the fit is as if someone sow it specifically for me, and of course the bow detail in the back–it is just the cherry on top of that Sundae! I also love the asymmetrical edge and the overall feminine feel of the top. It pairs perfectly with a black pencil skirt, a pair of white jeans, sailor pants, or even your favorite ripped denim styled with a pretty pair of heels!
The Floral Whimsy Romper – I call this my “BOLD & BEAUTIFUL” piece! The poppy print on this romper makes a unique and intrepid statement–great for the summer. The deep V neckline speaks the same daring language, while the belt provides excellent waist definition.
I paired this romper with red platform shoes and my favorite Oliver Bilou bag. Its dove color matches that of the daisies on the romper to perfection. The floral print is so versatile and would also look great with a pair of white or black heels and a bag to match. Grab your man and go on a date or call the girls and dance the night away in this pretty and feminine romper!

Happy mid-week! Doesn’t is feel joyous to know you are getting over the hump and half-way trough to the weekend?! On that note let me share a few fun facts about a fabric I love–SILK!
Did you know that silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm? It is a natural protein fiber that can be woven into fabric. Silk textile was first developed in ancient China and has been considered a luxurious material since 3630 BC, but is currently widely used in the medical field as well (magical properties, I tell ya!). It is very comfortable to wear in warm weather and while active, because it is very absorbent. It is also great for cold weather, as its low conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin. OK, so why am I going on and on about silk?!? Well, because I am in love with my new silk midi dress from METISU.
Why is this dress my new favorite?
- Silk is perfect for the summer heat and it does indeed give the dress a luxurious look, while my skin enjoys its softness;
- If you have read my prior article you know I love dresses that can go from a day in the office to a night out and this one fits the bill as it has midi length, half-sleeve, scoop neckline that all feels conservatively-elegant;
- The dress may look simple, but has so many details to enjoy: paneled design, tied waist, a split front and pockets! Yes, pockets – and I so LOVE having those!! Let’s be honest – I never use them as such, but just knowing they are there makes me feel cool!
- The color is not something you see every day and I know I will be wearing this dress well into Fall (when the weather permits that is) as it combined perfectly with earthy neutrals.
Have you checked out METISU’s dresses yet? They have trendy, new items (not just dresses, but I am just a sucker for those) every week! Let me know if you find anything you like on their website! There is an up to 70% mid-season sale right now! Would love to see it!

Happy rest of the week, beauties!
Hope your week has been going great and that you have some exciting plans for the upcoming weekend.
Since we are in the heat of summer and florals are huge during this season I wanted to introduce you to a floral midi dress with a twist, by METISU. I find this abstract pattern to be very artistic and inspiring. The flowers have a beautifully undefined shape and colors that flow from one flower to the other. The pops of brighter red and green stand out from the more muted earthy, tobacco tones and black background. This unusual color story gives you countless possibilities when it comes to accessories. I chose a blue Chanel bag and gold heels, but black, green, red or any neutral toned bag and shoes would also compliment this pretty dress very well.
The crew neck, midi length, and half-sleeve make this dress perfect for work, whereas the slim-fitting, elegant silhouette and side slid perfect it for “play”! I wore it in the office, followed by a performance at the Disney Concert Hall–it suited both occasions to the t!
This dress is excellent for summer as it is from a very light material. It also comes with a waist belt should you decide you desire additional definition in that area. It is also currently on sale for just $60, so hurry in and grab yours or show me what you chose from the wonderful METISU sale going on right now!

How was your 4th of July weekend? Tons of fun I hope! We did a couple of trips and I have to admit–it was fantastic having four days to spend with my favorite people! 🙂
Now, let’s get back to business–that of baking rules of wedding etiquette (hehe!) as I sure am introducing you to some unconventionally beautiful guest attire AND this time it is one for an evening celebration. Irrespective of when or where a wedding was to be held white or black used to be on the “NO! NO!” list when it came to female guest attire. White was strictly for the bride and black–well, black was to be left for the not-so-joyous occasions… However, nowadays black is completely acceptable–it is such a versatile color as it pairs up perfectly with any accessories and tends to be flattering on almost everyone.
I find this fit and flare METISU dress (as well as this one – available in all sizes! Mine is only available in XL at the moment.) to be the perfect piece for an evening wedding – it is very glamorous, yet proper, with a hint of fun and a pop of color. It comes with this pretty red and gold belt, which ties in perfectly with the gold front buttons of the dress and inspired my accessory selection–a pair of red suede BCBG peep toes (currently not available, but the linked pair is a perfect match for the dress), a red Michael Kors round-top wallet, and dainty gold jewelry.
A few of the dress details I love:
- The length of this dress – the lace hits me right below the knee, but if you are a bit shorter it would be tea-length, mid-calf, which is very classy as well.
- The swing silhouette – makes me want to twirl and dance the night away.
- The hollow out lace design – it is so strategically placed to show off the beauty of the lace fabric, while keeping the dress tasteful!
- The half sleeves – perfect for the evening and the lace detail on those show gorgeously and tie in with the bottom of the dress.
- The button down front – you can button up the dress and display its beautiful top pearl button and stand collar, or you can button it down and pair it up with some pretty gold jewelry!
If you have a special event to go to, check out the wide selection of METISU dresses – you are sure to find one that suits your style and occasion! METISU also has a fantastic customer appreciation SALE going on right now–50% OFF, so hurry in! Let me know when you find your perfect match – I’d love to see what you have picked!
